During the May Gallery Hop, Arabesque will be visiting Latin America! Our southern neighbors have a colorful history of dance and music that we will be bringing to the stage. Hop night performances will present Folkloric Skirt Dances, Latin Fusion Dance and a Theatrical Aztec piece. Our featured performers will be Lilia Vega, Safiya Nawaar and Eva Ensmann. Other dancers may be added before event night.
Our studio will transform into a theater style venue for the evening as we open our doors to Gallery Hop visitors from 5 pm to 8 pm on May 20th. The end time for the event will be extended as needed.
The show is complimentary and all ages are welcome! Performances take place every half hour. I
(5:00 – 5:30 – 6:00 – 6:30 – 7:00 – 7:30)
We will be providing light refreshments and plenty of seating will be available. Catered food.
Our featured visual artist for May is the very talented, Lilia Vega Nichols.
Lilia is a Mexican multimedia artist from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, “The city of the Mountains”. She currently resides in beautiful Central Kentucky, and continues working with ever evolving Paper Maché Skull Masks, Dia de Muertos and traditional Mexican craftwork… Exploring and promoting the Mexican Art in all its facets. Original art represented as Live-Art Exhibits. “Art in Movement”.
Her art has been showcased in exhibits such as:
• La Catrina Fashion Show – National Museum of Mexican Art Chicago
• Genesis-Baktun – Renaissance Festival & Art Exhibit, Hollywood Forever Cemetery Cathedral Exhibit
• Mercado la Paloma Art Exhibit. (One of the most important Hispanic cultural and culinary centers in Los Angeles, CA)
Her Masks were also featured in Channel 46 Univision in the show “Lanzate” which captures a big audience in the Los Angeles Area.
Visiting Artists will be setting up their easels and capturing the moment on canvas while the performances are underway.
